Hate Letter Against Pinoys - a hoax

I recently received an email from a friend about an article presumably written by a radio host from Nevada named Art Bell. The article’s title was “Filipinos make me puke”. The email is definitely a hoax. Any email that contains the following words “Pass this” or “Please pass”, or “Forward this” should not be taken seriously.

The article contained in the email is a hate letter against Pinoys. You can read the entire text from this link. I’m not boiling mad compared to others who reacted violently against this article. I think someone was trying to make Pinoys mad para ikalat ang email.

I’ll dissect the last part of the article, so you’ll see why this article should not be taken seriously.

From The ArticleMy Comments
To the filipino peopleThank you, thank you
Please recognize your ROOTS!Sure, 'lang problema.
You come from the Third World!Alam ko yon. Di mo na dapat banggitin pa.
Your country is a disgusting and filthy place.Opinyon mo yan. People who only see a glass half empty will never see it half full.
Most people there live in poverty! That’s true. Can you help us then?
Your culture has MUCH MORE SPANISH influence than chinese, and absolutely no JAPANESE influence whatsoever.Actually, much more American influence, not Spanish. So what if we have no Japanese influence. Just because we don’t doesn’t prevent us from liking Japanese goods.
People in Japan and China, do not act like you.Why should we expect them to?
They do not constantly talk about sex and they have a MUCH HIGHER level of RESPECT for each other.Oh Really? As far as I know mas maraming porno stars ang Hapon and Tsina. Dahil kung totoo man na we “talk constantly about sex” I’m sure hindi sa wikang Inglis.
There is NO WAY that you can connect yourself to Asia other than location.Asia is not only China and Japan.
Your culture and technological advancement does not even come CLOSE to What Chinese people have done in the past and what Japanese and Korean people are doing now! Sure, agree ako dito. We can use them as our models, then.
Everything you do is distinctly Filipino.Maraming salamat at napuna mo.
You cannot take credit for Japanese cars, video games, or Hentai! It's not an "asian thing" it's, an "American thing"We have no intention of taking credit from anyone. Basta, type lang namin ang mga made in Japan.
You have no concept of culture...no concept of asian ideas or asian philosophy! Can you demonstrate how you use Confucianism or Taoism in your everyday life?? You can't. And you will NEVER be able to.Sorry mate. Most of us Pinoys are Christians, kaya ang philosophy namin sa buhay base sa Biblia.
I understand that you are trying to create an identity for yourselves as young people... but it is NOT related to Asia. Your Identity is Filipino. That's all you are. Just Filipino. Think about what that means...Tama ka, Pinoy kami. Though we come from the continent of Asia like them, we have a different history, different struggles, different religion, different land, different climate. But we’re not JUST Filipino. We are proud to be called Filipino.

  • The FILIPINOS are victims of hoax again, believing that Art Bell, happily married to a half-Filipina, could do such a hideous act (I remember again when I was TROLLED...hay!). I found this letter from him:

AN Open Letter to My Listeners
    July 1, 2001

Another event in the seemingly never ending strange series of events in my life occurred, which will prevent me from being on the air this week. A horrible Racist article which has been on the Internet for almost three years, despite all our best efforts, has just been published by the Philippine Daily Inquirer (The largest circulation Newspaper in that country). This has resulted in hundreds of e-mails and death threats to me and my family. Even the slightest effort on their part, would have resulted in the truth before rushing to publish. The article appeared in the Entertainment section of the Sunday edition (July 1, 2001).
As many of you I hope are aware, I DID NOT WRITE this trash and never would, in fact my wife is half Filipino. It was originally sent from a computer located at U.C.S.D. in southern California. They have sent a apology which has been posted on this website (see below) for almost three years. Over that period of time EVERY inquiry has been answered by myself, my Webmaster and the Network.

We are presently taking all legal steps possible, however in the meantime there is a very real physical danger to my family and myself. This will require my full time attention for the moment. The Newspaper (as of this writing) still, has NOT published a Retraction, even though they have been served with a Demand Letter to do so.

The newspaper's e-mail addresses are feedback@inq7.net, jvaruta@inquirer.com.ph, readersadvocate@inquirer.com.ph, should you care to help, by urging them to promptly retract this dangerous, reckless, thoughtless article. See you soon.

  • Oh this email again. Yes, I received this email once, twice, thrice, too many times already. Pero I have to admit that I did believe it at first. But reading it again and again made me realize what lies beneath those lines. This might be written to put down Pinoys but then what the heck, this is just an opinion of one person. Just one person. Whoever wrote this, care ko. Basta ako, I'm proud to be a Pinoy and I will always be one.

Also, you might be receiving another email from a so called Korean student... Don't mind it.

Remember, we're all going to die sooner or later and face the real Judge. Bless you all.

  • Oh this email, buhay pa pala! It was sent Im sure ng isang taong naiinggit sa mga Pinoys. For someone who despises Pinoys, this writer evidently pays wayyyyyy too much attention to our culture. Interesado talaga. But for all we know, it could've been written by another Pinoy, baka tinalangka, umiral crab mentality. OR the writer just wanted us to take a closer look at how we are living our lives at the moment. Maybe he/she was hoping that somehow, his direct to the point (rude) comments make positive impact to all of us proud pinoys!

  • kahit na, the bottom line.. I'M PROUD TO BE A FULL-PLEDGE FILIPINO =)

  • mam sol,
thanks for that letter. hindi nga kapanipaniwala na yung article. parang elementary graduate lang ang sumulat.

    helltracker,
first time ko pa lang ma-receive itong email na ito. but i've never believed it. sabi ko anything na may "pass this" is suspect.

    rhada,
pareho tayo ng iniisip. baka ang sumulat nito is using reverse-psychology para maging mas makabayan tayo. because that is in fact the effect of the article to me. kung talagang walang kwenta tayong mga pinoy, bakit pag-aaksayahin ng panahon nung writer na sumulat ng ganitong article? does not make sense to me.

    goyong,
KSP nga ang sumulat. but i'm sure it is not someone named Art Bell. sigurado ako ang sumulat may galit kay Art Bell at sa mga Pinoy.

    naomi,
    yan ang gusto kong marinig.

  • ka uro! ay, nahuli ako but then better late than never he he

ang masasabi ko lang Filipinos can not be affected by that mere letter of degradation. subok na ang Pinoy, kahit anong situation e survivor tayo. but you know, you are indeed a FILIPINO. look at the answers, very cool, very suwabe, tunay na Pinoy!

me mga tao lang talaga na WALANG MAGAWA. ganun ka SIMPLE yun. but that letter from Art is admirable - it set things straight.

    gandang umaga (dito) o gabi!

  • I told my husband about this and he was so surprised because he like Art Bell and his show. Fortunately, it wasn't true. Sad that people use other poeple to criticize. This was also a topic by Milkphish a couple of weeks back.

By Anonymous Patrice, at 12:25 AM, June 29, 2005

  • this was written by a 17-yr-old filipino american anonymously using the computer at UC San Diego.

however, different versions of this email have popped up written by other people.

the funny thing is, most people do not even know who this art bell is. he is a famous radio personality who hosts a show dealing with UFOs, paranormal at kababalaghan, etc...

    his wife is half-filipino.
    ========
    ka uro -
salamat ho sa pagdaan ninyo sa bughaw :)
